breasts grew during pregnancy
saw two consultants prior to seeing me
all the notes read that she is dramatic and sensitive and having trouble nursing
baby is receiving formula in addition to the nursing sessions
mom didn't like being touched or have any discussion about breasts but wants to breastfeed
we worked very slowly talking about how amazing breastfeeding is and I tried to make the topic less taboo (meaning more openly discussed and not embarrassing)
when she was ready we tried latching and the baby had an amazing perfect latch
previous consults also tried showing her football hold but it was all too much for her. when baby got hysterical after unlatching she also couldn't handle it,
I helped her breathe and relax through the sensations of breastfeeding.
After a few minutes of success, she opened her eyes and got overwhelmed again so she had to stop
they also did skin to skin for a little bit gave materna and then we went to pump
she got about 20cc from one breast while pumping (on the lowest setting)
I carefully answer all her nursing questions, discussed how she can give pumped milk in a bottle, how to pace feed, and how to store milk etc. went over breastfeeding management
she felt truly better knowing that she can pump and give baby pumped milk only
