Mom crying when nursing

second baby
nursed first only half a year and partially with nipple shield
38 weeks
day 2
3.1kg birthweight
mommy nurses through the pain because she really wants to nurse
has milk
seen already 2 consultants who tried showing her deeper latch and nothing is helping
I helped her breathe through the pain and latch looked good
was about to check tongue tie when another consultant came in to check on mom
she took over and said there is no tongue tie (I wasn't able to see fully) and that mom just needs a deeper latch and showed mom how to roll the baby's mouth onto the breast differently than how I showed her
mom said it was only slightly less painful
consultant told her that the pain would go away once her milk is flowing more In a few days and baby isn't working so hard on her breast and also might be sensitive because she is lighter skin color on the nipples
later when mom saw me she asked for nipple shield so I gave her and she said it still is painful

Again, I am not sure what else I could have done for her to help and it really hurts to see her in so much pain
I recommend checking out an osteopath to see if maybe releasing some tight muscles in the baby could help

oh, and mom didn't want to try pumping and bottle feeding so that wasn't an option
