mom has hyperthyroidism
mom wanted help knowing everything about proper breastfeeding management, timing, etc.
went over a lot of material with her
mom seems to have a strong letdown (probably due to hyperthyroidism) and causes baby to gag a bit a few minutes into the feed and then seems finished for the meal
I tried to show her laid back position which was really hard and uncomfortable for her
I told her to try the same cradle pose and then just lean back but she couldn't get comfortable
I also told her if she sent comfortable leaning back now she can at least try to give milk in smaller doses, like nurse for a few minutes then take him off and let him catch his breath and then continue and that she can pump until she is comfortable and relieved
gave her number for consultants to call when she goes home
