gestational diabetes
during labor there was a low heat rate of baby
stripping, contractions, Pitocin, during delivery
unknown sugar levels of baby now
mom complaining about pain on nipple while nursing
she said there would be a stripe on the nipple after a feed
tried to get baby to latch deeper and tried football which was much. better for this mom and baby
after a few minutes of good sucking the baby was choking and spit up a lot of amniotic fluid and then spit it out of her nose and then stopped breathing and started turning deep red/purple
I called a nurse to help but the baby had thank god started crying and nurse explained to mom that we need to get baby to nurse more to help discharge the amniotic fluid. which was something I was also trying to explain to the mom (but I was still shaking myself) we tried to rewatch but baby shut down
so I put baby skin to skin and retuned about 30 minutes later and mom had rewatched baby in football successfully and continued feeding her properly with deeper latch
I also sat and discussed with her pumping a bit after each feed, or at least just a few times per day in order to help bring her milk supply earlier due to the GDM.
