vginal delivery with Pitocin
attempted epidural 3 times, which started and stopped her labor, because epidurals weren't working, used Pitocin lots of times, gave a lot of oxytocin and boosters to the epidural so it was a long labor and pushed for an hour then finally managed skin to skin once baby was born.
mom has high cortisol levels generally
a carrier for non classical hydrenal hyperplasia so suspects it may play a role in baby's status quo
baby still has jaundice and nurses are worried baby is dehydrated because pee is orange and there is very little of it.
pain with latching
had a terrible time nursing the first baby – saw 3 lactation consultants who were all basically unable to help but assumed It was an allergy issue in the baby
mom feels engorged and feet are swollen (of course)
tried getting baby to latch, somewhat successfully. there was a shallow latch and some clicking noises. Also did football hold which was more successful.
gave baby 25cc materna and then mom pumped milk
left side got about 50cc
right side seemed clogged and I tried massaging it and icing it an it only produced 20cc

I explained how incredibly sleepy this baby is and why and how we have to work to wake up this baby and take a full feed
I explained that now the most important thing is to feed this baby and make sure the jaundice goes away and that she isn't dehydrated
she can pump and feed if she wants to but she needs to take it day by day and then call a lactation consultant to come to her house and help get her more organized with a better plan and possibly even help her return baby to the breast.
gave her a few consultants numbers
