almost starting 3rd day
water broke but pushed for 3 hours
baby under lights after birth
supplementing with formula
milk hadn't come in until today
*I never got to see her with the baby latched because he was in the nursery
she showed me someone had given her a silicone nipple shield to use to get him to latch because she had flat nipples
she was also told to start pumping but never saw anything and wasn't told what to do with either
today she was able to Pump for about 20minutes and got 10cc
We were interrupted so I came back 2-3 hours later
By that point babys temperature dropped and she was told his color changed so they put him in the incubator
I went over breastfeeding management for her after discussing with Leah (who works in the pagiyah)
plan is to pump every 3 hours and try to feed what she pumps every 2-2.5 hours (and get him from the nursery since they let him go 4 hours without giving him formula) and supplement when she needs to. First put him on the breast and then offer the bottle. We discussed the importance of her baby gaining weight and if he has jaundice (which I think he did) to expel it
She also explained that the silicone nipple shield works better for her and the baby and showed me her breasts. The nipples are larger and flatter and would be too hard for a preemie to get ahold of so the nipple shield is temporarily easier. I told her it is important to see a lactation consultant after she is discharged and gave her some numbers. and I also discussed storing pumped milk

קודם כל זה LATE PRE TERM
דבר שני לדעתי אין מה לדבר על הנקה אלא על האכלת התינוק ובניית אספקת חלב
וחוץ מזה האם הסברת לה את אופן השימוש בפטמת סיליקון וממה עליה להזהר/לשים לב כשהיא משתמשת בזה?
